Somewhere Out There

Hello my lovely followers. I wrote a book.

Sort of…

This is a collection of some of my short stories and poems. If you do purchase the book, thank you in advance. The profits will be helping me pay for my masters program, so if you do like my writing and want to support me this is the way to do it!

at a loss.

There is something about having to sit down and write about yourself that is difficult for me. I hope that it gets easier, but I am attempting to write a personal statement for a Masters Program I am applying to for Library Sciences and I am at a loss. . .

So instead I sit here and watch the cars drive by and the people getting their coffee and I listen to the conversations and the music and I wonder what my life will be like in just a short year from now.

Top 10 Spooky/ Halloween/ Fall Shows

The end of October is almost here! It feels like this month has flown by! It you still don’t feel in the fall mood, or feel like something is missing for the Fall Season, here are my favorite spooky/scary shows, in no particular order:

1.American Horror Story

American Horror Story is such a great show, especially if you like creepy, weird, ghost houses, murders, freaks, etc, for the holiday season. Murder House is my favorite season so far, even though Hotel was amazing and Lady Gaga is the perfect vampire.

2.Scream Queens

This show is so funny! I just started watching and I finished season one so quickly. Season 2 is so much better, but you have to watch from season 1. Emma Roberts is amazing and John Stamos is so great in season 2 so far. Perfect horror parody show, perfect for the Chanel-o-ween feeling.

Supernatural is the best thing ever. Sam and Dean are just immediately lovable characters and you grow with them as the seasons progress. If you are in a show slump and you really want a show with 11 finished seasons to crunch through, and you really want something spoopy for the season, this show is it. Currently on the 12th season, Supernatural is a really great show to get into.

Show about a zombie medical examiner named Liv? Yes please. This show takes a spin on normal cop shows and is very reminiscent of Psych. The comedy in this show is great and Major is a beautiful person.

5.The Originals

The Originals is an actual spin off of one of my old favorites, The Vampire Diaries. Only this show is so much better. True vampire love to Elijah and Haley. Must watch anytime show, but especially good for the Halloween season.

Gross Warning. This show is so weird and gross, but oddly addicting. Totally witchy, which makes it totally fall appropriate. I am just warning you this show is so inappropriate and awkward, so watch it at night, alone, with the lights ON.

7.Criminal Minds

Just taking a break from truly spooky, if thats not your thing. I love criminal minds, and really it is an all the time show, but in the season mood this show gives you a lot of creepy people to creepy terrible things. Gotta love Hotchner and Reid.

8. Death Parade

I tried to keep this list from being to anime heavy, but its hard when I watch a lot of anime. In saying that, this show is great. It is spooky, it deals with the idea of death and the afterlife, and it gives you some really interesting characters. Decim’s character growth through the show is awesome, and this show only has one season with a good ending- which makes it perfect for the last week of October.

9. Being Human

So, I lied. This part of the list is in order. This show is a personal favorite, but I recognize its downfalls. Being Human is a little bit older, but I would definitely watch the BBC version and not the US version. This show is a little long and I think I didn’t want to watch the last season because they change around the main characters, but the feeling the early seasons of this show give are just really good, Halloween-y feelings.

10. Soul Eater

I TOLD YOU I LOVE ANIME. I was writing this list and then realized I needed to include Soul Eater. It is literally about Death and his Scythes. Soul and Maka are super lovable characters, but Death the Kid is the best. Also Dr. Frankenstein is amazing. I was looking up the trailer for you guys and Mike immediately decided he needed to re-watch this anime. It is still on Netflix for now, so go watch!

Inktober # 16

Update# 5,000,000

Hello my lovely followers.

I am to apologize for my absence.  A lot has been happening, as I said in my last “Post,” but to make a long story short I am probably definitely moving again very soon and I am super stressed out about it.

I will try to keep posting this week for inktober, which I had my very lofty goal of posting every single day. We shall see. I have some list posts that I have written already that I just need images for, so I will try to catch up in some postings.

I am going to Florida this weekend to see my family, so Friday night I will be in Orlando. I do have a longer piece that I plan to have finished for Halloween night, so be on the look out for that.

I didn’t want to use to many Sam’s Son episodes for inktober, but I will probably have to if I want to catch up in the days… Sorry!

Thanks for all the love on my posts everyone!

My Biggest Fears

Hello all you spooky people!

So today I am going to be doing something I used to do on this blog, but is going to be a bit different for my newer followers.  I will be writing a list. Today’s list is going to be, as the title gave away, my biggest fears. It is October, the month of Halloween in my book, so I think this is a perfect time to write this list. I am writing it here for your enjoyment, but also for me. I haven’t been keeping up with Inktober, which I was afraid of happening, but it isn’t really to do with me forgetting but more with me not having time to post. I think before I start my list I should share a little background information:

I have recently moved from Florida to New Jersey, which to me was something I have been working toward for awhile. Mike and I moved up here together, but we have been having some difficulties. We moved from Florida right after I graduated from my undergrad. I wanted to have some real seasons, my family lives up here, and it looked like the jobs here for Mike would be really great. It has been a few months and already we are feeling the pressures of the world. It sounds ridiculous to phrase what is happening in this way, but it is true. I cannot find a good paying job where we are currently located, and everything Mike has looked into has been terrible. I was ecstatic at first because the weather has been beautiful, we missed the hurricane that hit Florida, and I have been able to see all of my family. This is where I will start my list:

My Biggest Fears:

  1. Making Mistakes. This seems so insignificant, and I have never really allowed myself to accept this as a fear, but I am so afraid that I will make a mistake. Whether it is an everyday mistake, like forgetting my keys or deodorant, or a huge mistake, like- well I don’t really know what big mistakes I am afraid of making. I guess moving was one of them. I was so sure when we moved that it was the best decision to make, and now I am afraid that I chose wrong.
  2. Not making enough money. I think everyone is afraid of this, but I am so nervous that I won’t be able to pay all my bills or that I won’t have enough money for food, and neither of those things are that big of a deal for me right now.
  3. Being late for work. I always get to work super early and just wait in my car. I work not even five minutes from my house, but I always leave a half an hour early and sit in my car until it is time for my to clock in. I think this also has to do with the fact that I am worried about getting yelled at or fired, which I know won’t happen even if I am late, but it bothers me so much.
  4. Getting yelled at. I don’t care what it is for, I am always afraid of getting yelled at. I never do anything wrong, and I make sure that I always follow the rules, especially at work. I have no idea what to do when someone is angry at me. Even if it is my brother or someone I know won’t stay mad for long. It still makes me really worried.
  5. Getting hurt. I think this is another one that everyone is afraid of, but I don’t mean emotionally hurt. I mean physical pain. I always flinch when someone raises their hand, even though I have never really been hit or hurt by someone like that before.

I know there are probably a lot more things that I am afraid of but this is what I can handle right now. Hope you have a good night!

Inktober #14

Trick Or Treat

Trick or treating will always be my fondest memory of halloween as a kid. It wasn’t even the candy that got me excited. I just loved dressing up as a witch or a vampire. Also, I would trick Pj out of all of his good candy because I am a horrible sister.

Honestly, I might add more to this post later, but I am so tired.

Happy Fall!

Top 10 Fall & Halloween Songs

Hey everyone!

Sorry about missing a post yesterday! AHH. I feel so bad, so I am posting two inktober related things! This post, as you can tell by the title, is my top 10 favorite songs to listen to during the Fall! Let’s get into it:

1) Earth Angel – Death Cab for Cutie

This song is just too cute, but this version is just creepy enough to enjoy for fall. Mike introduced me to this song a long time ago, but it is still my favorite Fall song.

2) This is Halloween – Panic! at the Disco

Brendon Urie’s voice in this cover is absolutely spooky, and how could I not include this classic in this list? The Marilyn Manson version is also good and spooky, and of course you can always listen to the original from the movie.

3) Werewolves of London – Warren Zevon

Mike hates this song, but honestly I have been listening to this song during the Halloween season since I was a little girl! How could I leave it out?

4) Witchcraft – Frank Sinatra

I put this song so high up on my list because Franky! That, and I have a thing for cute, romantic songs in the fall and this has that Halloween feel with the lyrics.

5) Jack’s Lament – Nightmare before Christmas

This song is just a classic, and Jack’s voice in this song is captivating. Thank you Danny Elfman!

6) Mr. Crowley – Ozzy Osbourne

I always think about Supernatural when I hear this song, and honestly listening to Ozzy for Halloween is just a good idea.

7) Black No. 1 – Type O Negative

This is another one of those songs that is romantic (in my messed up mind), but you could listen to any Type O songs to get in the Halloween mood.

8) Closer – Kings of Leon

This was the song that inspired my first Inktober post, so I felt like it was a no brainer to include it. It is about a vampire and Caleb Followill’s voice is just perfectly haunting.

9) Autumn Leaves – Ed Sheeran

Cute and cuddly and Ed Sheeran’s voice just makes me want to curl up in a blanket with some tea. This song was included for obvious cosy time feels.

10) Science Fiction/Double Feature – Rocky Horror Picture Show

This song. A classic. I could listen to the entire soundtrack from Rocky Horror for Halloween, but this one gives you that impending, something weird and creepy is happening.

Thanks for reading! Hope you liked my list! Feel free to comment below your favorite Fall and Halloween songs.

Inktober #7

Today I wanted to do something a bit different. Every time I write, I come up with characters. I have learned that some of these characters are a part of me, but not all of them are. Some of them are so foreign and strange to me I wonder where they come from.

As I write this I think that maybe these characters come from my fears. Maybe they come from other people. I don’t know anyone like Dahlia, or like Stella, or like Moon. I think that maybe I am finding things around me and making them into these characters, so I can know them better. I am trying to work them out in real life so I make them on paper, I make them for you to read and learn with me.

I like thinking about small instances- scenes- where people are interacting in a moment rather than over a course of them. I feel like this is more intimate and that you learn more this way. There is more of an impact when you don’t know their whole story but you get a moment of them. That is how it happens in real life, so why not on paper? There is more of an intense liveliness, more of a zing, when you are this close to a character you don’t have the luxury of knowing.

This is how I feel about my own writing here, especially with short stories. I guess writing longer works is different. Since I have been querying my novel, I have taken the characters as bits of me. I know they will always live inside of me in a permanent way. That doesn’t mean I like them, or condone their actions, but I know that they are a part of me. This is different in that those characters are actually a part of me, instead of being part of life I am trying to discover.

It would be interesting to know how others feel about this though, so feel free to leave a comment letting me know how you feel about your writing!

I’m so sorry…

Sam’s Son, Episode three is actually coming out tonight.

I was stupid to think I would have gotten out the night I posted the last update, but honestly I wanted to. Life got in the way. Like I moved to New Jersey from Florida the day after that day. Oh. Right. Silly me….

The new episode should be up within the hour, I am just uploading it to scribd now.
